ORA Ice Tort on Live Aquaria’s Diver’s Den

The ORA Ice Tort has the typical Tortuosa branching growth form with a deep sea green base and glowing baby blue branch tips. This coral may look similar to the standard Tortuosa that we sell, but rest assured it is not the same thing. In addition to a different color pattern, this slow growing variety has thicker and considerably longer branches than its more common counterpart. The contrast of the dark base, blue polyps with green rims and almost white tips is stunning. Interestingly, all of the Ice Torts in the ORA greenhouse spawned 2 weeks ago.

Red rose bubble tip Anemone. This anemone has red mouth and red oral disc. The tentacles of this anemone stick well and are red. The underside of the oral disc is purplewith a smooth purple column and pedal disc. This bubble tip anemone prefers to attach to piles of rocky rubble and coral rubble, and is maintained under 250-Watt DE-10K bulbs that are suspended 18″ above the water surface in a raceway that is 16″ deep. This anemone is fully quarantined since November and is feeding well on a mix of PE Mysis and finely chopped raw shrimp. The diameter of the pedal disc is 1″ and the anemone is 3-1/2″ in diameter when fully open.

Blueface Angelfish at Live Aquaria

The Blueface Angelfish is a stunning fish. This angel is shy at first, but will become bolder over time. Adult Blueface Anglefish have yellow scales with blue centers, a yellow dorsal fin with a round, black spot, and a yellow caudal fin. Naturally, this angel has a blue face with yellow markings around the eyes. The blueface angel will appreciate a ample swimming space along with sufficient hiding places provided by rock work. Peaceful tankmates are best suited for the blueface angelfish.

The Helfrichi’s Firefish is also known as the Helfrich’s Dartfish, or Helfrich’s Firefish. The head is distinctly yellow with a purple forehead, and the body is varying shades of purple and white.

It requires a 10 gallon or larger aquarium with plenty of loose coral rubble as part of the aquascape, and a tight-fitting lid to prevent it from jumping out of the tank. It will rarely become aggressive towards other fish, but is territorial, and will fight with its own kind unless they are a bonded pair.

The Helfrichi’s Firefish will feed mostly on prey suspended in the water column, but will pick food off the substrate. Its diet should vary between chopped or shaved seafood, vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, and mysis shrimp.
