Yesterday, we wrote an article about a new product called PO4x4 Phosphate Remover. The new chemically engineered polymer is said to remove four times the amount of phosphates traditional products do. Additionally, it is said to release a much lower amount of iron into the water column, as well as be resistant to clumping.
There are several methods for using PO4x4 in your system. You can run it in a media bag:
Or more efficiently, you can use a media reactor (don’t forget to check out this incredible reef tank here):
We recommend the use of a reactor, as the water is forced to move through the media. When using a media bag, most of the water will choose the path of least resistance, which is flowing around the media.
