Octopus kills Shark, National Geographic Video
Posted on Wednesday, April 28th, 2010 at 10:42 am by Reef ToolsWhat do you get when you put a giant octopus and sharks in the same tank? Well, the Spiny Dogfin Sharks have been known to like the taste of octopus in their diets, but the Aquarium folks have figured that the octopus can use its ability to camouflage for protection, or at least fight the shark off and then hide. What actually happened though, was quite unexpected.
The shark is calmly swimming, minding its own business, when it is ambushed by the octopus. The Giant Pacific Octopus snags the shark easily overpowers it, making short work of its helpless captive. This explains the Spiny Dogfin Shark skeletons that kept appearing on the aquarium bottom.

Not very nice to do that to these captive creatures…
Get it right! or don’t have that setup. Octopus is an incredibly strong and smartest of the sea besides its gigantic cousin with eyes the size of a hub cap. Should not of been a surprise. Sharks are slow at night and conserve energy.
