At Ecoxotic, we believe traditional thinking leads to traditional places. We reject it, knowing there is always a better way. For us, it’s a way of life; we call it Endangering the Status Quo.
However, endangering the status quo also comes with a very strong sense of simplification, responsibility and transparency. We continue to challenge ourselves, considering each choice we make – and by doing so, new possibilities appear. By dedicating ourselves to only simple, elegant and inspired solutions, we seek to change the way people experience the aquarium hobby.
Our Story
Ecoxotic grew out of a small tribe of aquarium hobbyists who believed the focus of the aquarium industry was no longer on the hobbyist. Keeping an aquarium has become a chore, they are too complicated, and the industry is fraught with inefficiencies and mis-information. Essentially, the thrill of having an aquarium is gone. So, we created a company where we could be more creative, spread our passion for change, and cultivate a new tribe of hobbyists. Focusing on our core beliefs has resulted in a product line that is simple, elegant, easy-to-use and makes fish keeping fun again.
Our Products
When we design a new product, innovation, simplicity and environmental responsibility are core tenets for the team. We draw Inspiration from inside the hobby – specifically from freshwater, marine and reef aquarists – and outside the hobby (specifically our wives and their friends.) This design philosophy is applied across our entire product line, which includes modular LED aquarium lighting fixtures, integrated aquariums and accessories.
Our Conscious
When it comes to being environmentally responsible, we know that our business activity – from our products to shipping methods – creates pollution as a by-product. We work steadily to reduce our impact on the environment. We incorporate energy efficient LED lighting in all of our aquarium products, using recyclable materials whenever possible and designing our products with fewer parts. We even approach our retail packaging differently by providing our dealers with point-of-sale displays and actual products versus color boxes. Our packaging may be plain, but when you see warehouses full of pallets stacked with outdated color boxes destined for a landfill, it makes you think twice about a pretty colored box. Staying true to our core values has helped us create a company we’re proud to run and work for. Our focus on changing the status quo and inspiring our customers with truly innovative products has brought us success in the marketplace.
Sustainability
Despite the aquarium trades negligable impact on the natural environment, there is a huge target on it’s back. We advocate the most sustainable methods of aquarium keeping. We look to partner with those individuals and companies that share this philosophy. Many businesses and individuals are successfully breeding vertebrates and invertebrates. Aquaculture is the future of our industry, we strongly support their efforts to remove the target.
