The Azure Damselfish, Chrysiptera hemicyanea, is a beautiful, semi-aggressive two-toned damsel appropriate for beginners. Also known as the Half-blue Damselfish, this brightly colored fish sports a bright blue body, and an orangish/yellow rear, abdomen, tail, anal fin, and rear.
Appropriate for tanks 30 Gallons or larger, this hardy omnivore is a great choice for someone wanting to add some color to their tank.
In nature, the Azure Damselfish is found in shallow water, and is usually seen in small groups. In captivity, they should be offered a variety of meaty foods, dried flakes, shrimp and pellets.

I have the same kind of fish, the only difference is the bottom part is yellow. I have not seen this one in any of our local FS.
It could def be the same species. You have a picture?
Since when are damsels peaceful. The only one I’ve ever come across that are extremely peaceful are chromis.
until adulthood, and given ample space, this species is relatively peaceful. Now, having said that, put an adult one of these in a small tank and fins may be missing.
They are considered one of the peaceful ones. One of my favorite damselfish. Not so easy to find.
I’ve had not so good experiences with damsels. I would never buy another one again. Good as starters to break in the tank but that’s about it.
Jen, I still have the first fish I ever bought, a 3 stripe damsel. He’s killed several fish, and so he’s in the frag tank 🙂
The ones I had teamed up and killed an angel that I got. Very territorial. I ended up tearing apart my tank to catch the dang things and they took a ride to my buddys fish store. We call our frag tank fishie time out. They are pretty fish but what a headache they can be.
